A short guide about Bicycle Touring to Cuba

Cuba offers some of the world's finest beaches and a rich cultural heritage. Its vibrant passionate approach to life has been enticing visitors throughout the ages and attributed to a population of 11 million, the largest in the Caribbean. The island is slowly becoming accepted again after being banished from the western world by the American boycott. Cuba has a delightful tropical climate with year round sunshine, a daytime temperature that rarely falls below 26°C and warm, clear waters that gently lap against idyllic beaches of fine white sand and shady palm trees.

Cuba has some of the most exquisite coral reefs in the Caribbean, providing a perfect natural habitat for a wide array of underwater life. Besides the sea, you'll find a fascinating country with a combination of Spanish, African and Caribbean influences. As expected of a tropical island there is fresh fruit everywhere and all the food is local, especially the sea food such as their lobster, which is caught only a few hours prior to serving. Because of government policy, Cuba’s prices are terribly inflated compared to South American standards, and expect to pay more than 15 dollars a night to lay your head.

The Cuban people are naturally friendly and you are assured the warmest welcome in the Caribbean, a welcome that lasts from the day you arrive till the day you leave... awaiting your return. So be aware of the beggars, as they only beg from tourists. If five tourists were to give them a dollar or Euro each, they’ll have what normal honest Cubans have to work a month for. There is also an underground network of contacts called the 'casa particulares' and this is a wonderful way to save money and to meet Cuban people of all kinds. So if you decide to travel to another city, tell your host and they'll arrange another casa in the city you wish. Another travel trip to remember is that the Cuban girls are wonderful, but as a tourist you have to be very careful as Cubans are not allowed to get involved with tourists.

There is lot more to Cuba than drinking rum and doing the Rumba, rent a scooter to explore the countryside, there are some huge mango and pineapple plantations. Or you can head back to a tobacco farm to roll and smoke your own cigars after a day of horseback riding. Tourabout has holiday packages that provide an awesome Cuban adventure, travelling at the right season to make the most of your Caribbean adventure.
