A short guide about Family travel to Namibia

Namibia is situated in south-western Africa and is a huge but sparsely populated country. It is known for its contrasting landscapes starting with its brooding desolate Namib Desert. This Desert is famous for its high dunes and awe inspiring sense of space and is said to be the oldest in the world.

Namibia is a country which can justifiably be known as "Africa's Gem". The capital city of Windhoek is a great place to start your trip. It is the travel hub of Namibia and offers good nightlife, restaurants and plenty of sights. The city of Swakopmund is also a very German town in Namibia and you’ll find it’s the place to drink German beer while enjoying the African sun.

The central plateau, with its thornbush savannah and rugged mountains rises abruptly from the plains and gives way to the majestic Fish River Canyon National Park in the South. And in the North of the country the landscape ranges from the dense bush to the open plains of the great Etosha National Park.

Most of the African game species are well represented in Namibia, with the largest concentration in the Etosha National Park which is firmly entrenched on the world map of International Parks. Etosha provides the most memorable experiences, with Namibia being home to the largest population of cheetah. Most tourists find an experience down at the waterhole at dawn is like a finely etched African wildlife painting, with the giraffe, zebra, rhino, hyenas and graceful antelopes drinking in peaceful union.
